Review: Sephora Mini Blast Travel Ionic Blow Dryer

It’s been a while, but my computer is finally up and running  so I can try to start blogging again. Today’s review is on Sephora’s Mini Blast Blow Dryer.

What it does: A travel blow dryer that packs the same punch as a full size blow dryer

Cost: $26

Where to buy:

  • Sephora: Use your beauty insider car to earn points.

When drybar introduced Baby Buttercup, I was excited for it until I saw the price. I decided to do some research and found this travel blow dryer from Sephora. It may be tiny, but it works as well as my full size Buttercup. It does take a little bit longer for it to dry my hair compared to a full size dryer but my hair was soft and frizz free. I love that it’s tiny and takes up less space in my luggage. It also comes with dual voltage which makes it great to take it internationally.

Worth the Splurge: Dior Addict Lip Glow

I’m normally a lip gloss type of person, but I’ve been wanting to try Dior Addict Lip Glow after reading such positive reviews. It’s a lip balm/lipstick hybird. The color is suppose to enhance your natural lip color, which means it’s different for each person.

What it does: A lip balm that adds sheer color and hydrates your lips.

Cost: $33.

Where to Buy: Sephora or any department store that carries Dior make-up.

Verdict: It’s worth a try if you’re in need of a lip balm that will add some sheer color to your lips. It’s surprisingly moisturizing for a lip balm/lipstick, and it has a nice minty flavor. There might be other options that are cheaper, but this is a nice luxurious treat if you’re in the mood to splurge.

Have you tried this Lip addict?

Play! by Sephora Review

When I got an invite for Play! by Sephora, I decided to sign-up for it since I haven’t done a subscription box in a while and it was only $10.  I normally don’t sign up for beauty subscription boxes, but I figured Sephora’s box wouldn’t be all make-up products.!_SITE_banner.png

I’ve received 5 boxes so far, and they’ve all been pretty good. I like that the boxes include a mixture of skin, hair, and beauty products. In addition, I like that you receive a Play! Pass to earn extra points on your Sephora card.

Here’s my review for this month’s box:

  • Living Proof Prime style Extender Spray: I haven’t had a chance to use the product yet, but I am a big fan of Living Proof. The spray is suppose to help extend the life of your hairstyle.
  • dr. brandt needles no more: This is suppose to be like botox in a bottle. I’m not sure if I’ll use this, but I’ll most likely give it to my mom to use.
  • Clinique Chubby Stick Highlight: I’ve been looking for a good contouring product, so I’m happy this was a sample, and I’m a fan of Clinique as I normally don’t breakout with their products.
  • Sephora Eye Mask: I receive the Rose sample and it’s very moisturizing. I do love these types of eye masks, so I might purchase some more as they’re currently on sale at Sephora.
  • Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Peel: I’m hesitant to try this product since my skin is very sensitive, but I read reviews about it hydrating your skin.
  • Tocca Beauty Isabel: I normally don’t like perfume, but this scent is nice and not so overwhelming.

I would give this box 3 out of 5 stars. The samples were good sizes, but some were just items that I wouldn’t really use.

Worth the Splurge: Drybar Buttercup Blow Dryer

When Drybar first opened in Houston, I was lucky enough to go to the soft grand opening. My hair felt so amazing that I stocked up on some of their hair products. I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase Buttercup (their mascot!) since I was in the market for a new blow dryer. It was totally worth it! The price may seem steep it, but what it does for your hair is worth it.

What it does: A nanoionic blow dryer that makes your hair soft and silky

Cost: $195 – You can actually purchase Buttercup at a lower price with one of Drybar’s bundles. The current bundle at Sephora – “Peace on Earth Good Hair to All” contains Buttercup plus 5 other products to try.

Where to Buy: Sephora or Drybar’s Salon

Verdict: If you need a blow dryer, consider this one.  I have long hair, and I can finish blow drying my hair in 5-10 minutes, depending how I style it. I love using it with a heat protectant and smoothing cream in my hair. My hair always comes out so soft, shiny, and frizz free! Even though it is pricey, it might be worth considering if you use your hair dryer as your hair styler.

Would you consider purchasing Buttercup?

Lush Holiday Favorites

Every year after Christmas, I look forward to Lush’s BOGO sale on their holiday items. I was introduced to Lush a few years ago from a friend on my birthday. Lush products are all handmade products and the company’s famous for their bath bombs. I’ve actually never tried one before, but I am a fan of all of their other products, especially shower jellies and massage bars.

Below are my favorite items included in their annual Buy One, Get One Free sale: Some of these products may be sold out online, but check out your local store. They’ve also been doing restocks online periodically, so maybe you’ll get lucky.

  • Christingle Body Conditioner: This is my first time trying their body conditioner, and so far so good. My skin is so smooth and I like the cool feeling on my skin when I stop out of the shower. I might stock up on this product, as the cooling sensation is a great way to beat the summer heat.

  • Buche de Noel Facial Cleanser: Ever since I found out about Lush’s annual BOGO sale, I make sure i try to stock up on this facial cleanser. I love that it’s all natural ingredients and my skin always fills so clean and smooth after use. It does get a little bit messy to use through, but it’s worth it! I tend to refrigerate mine so it lasts longer.

Bûche de Noël

  • Santa’s Belly or Snowman: Lush’s shower jellies are one of my favorite items. They’re so much fun to play with and such a unique concept. I always stick mine in the fridge so that it feels so cool and refreshing to use. You just need a small amount to squish and lather with it. Plus, their jellies always have a special surprise like glitter.

Santa's Belly

  • Santa’s Lip Scrub: Unfortunately, my lips tend to get dry and flaky this time of year. This lip scrub works wonder, plus I love the fact that it’s cola flavor. It does stain things red though, so be careful when trying to remove it. My other favorite flavors are the Popcorn and  Mint one.

Santa's Lip Scrub

These are a few of my favorite thing. I hope next year, there will be a Christmas theme massage bar!

Buckstaff Bath House Review

I had the pleasure of visiting Hot Springs, AR and visiting Buckstaff Bath House. It was great to experience a part of history that was so popular in the 20s.

Buckstaff is located on historic Bath House Row in Downtown Hot Springs. I wanted the most authentic experience, so I chose to go with Buckstaff. They offer different types of services, and I went with the Whirlpool Mineral Bath. They’re only open at certain hours, so you want to make sure you get there early in order to ensure a spot.

The Whirlpool Mineral Bath consists of the following:

  • Tub Bath :This was relaxing. You sit in a tub soaking in the mineral water from the Hot Springs. They also have bubbles so it was really soothing. Towards the end of the bath, one of the attendants comes in and scrubs you down with a loofah . My skin felt really great after this.
  • Hot Pack: This was my favorite part of the whole experience. Your attendant brings you over to lie down on a bed and places hot towels, drenched in the mineral water, on areas that need attention. I asked to do my lower back and feet. It felt so nice, and I didn’t want to move on from it.
  • Vapor Cabinet: the cabinet was basically a metal steam room that you sit in and your head sticks out of it. I could only do it for a few minutes, before I felt like passing out from the heat.
  • Sitz Bath: This was an interested tub. It’s basically a chair that you sit in, and you just soak your bottom in it. It was nice, but after a while I wanted to move on.
  • Needle Shower: I wish I had this shower head. You’re in a shower and sprayed in all directions that it feels like a massage on your body. You only get to be in it for a few minutes, before you have to move-on.

If I come back to Hot Springs, I plan to do this again. It was a nice relaxing treat, and costs less than a massage.  Plus, my skin felt really great after it!

Review: drybar Cream Soda Smoothing Cream

Today’s review is on drybar’s Cream Soda Smoothing Cream:

What it does: A styling cream to help smooth, shine, and hydrate your hair.

Cost: $27

Where to buy:

  • drybar Salons: Purchase it online right now, and you can get 2 for the price of 1! Don’t delay, as it’s a limited quantity.
  • Sephora: Use your beauty insider car to earn points.

I love this smoothing cream. It does exactly what it says it does. I use it on my hair mid-shaft to the ends, and either air dry or blow dry my hair. When I blow dry it, my hair is smooth and soft, with a lot less frizz. Plus, the smell is amazing. When you put it on damp hair, use a comb and brush it through so that the product gets spread evenly.

What do you use to control frizz?

Beauty Fave: Victoria Secret’s Body Care System

It’s been so hot down here in Texas, which means my skin has been dry and itchy. Luckily, Victoria Secret just introduce their new Body Care System. It works really well too! Normally, my sensitive skin tends to break out in hives with new products, but so far so good! It’s a 4 part system, except I use either the scrub or the cream wash. The lotion works wonders on my skin, and has even healed a tiny spot of eczema I had on my leg. The body oil acts as a nice sealer after I apply the lotion and let it absorb on my skin for a few minutes.

It comes in four different scents: Shea, Coconut Milk, Verbana, and Acai. My favorites are Shea and Coconut Milk.

Right now, you can buy any 3 items from the system for $30. Or if you want to just try it out, the travel size items are $5 each. Plus, if you visit a Victoria Secret Store to try on a Body by Victoria Secret Bra, they give you a FREE trial set, with no purchase necessary.

What’s your favorite lotion to you?

Review: Conair Infiniti Pro Curl Secret

Today’s review is on Conair Infiniti Pro Curl Secret:

What it does: Curls your hair within seconds.

Cost: $119.99 **but you can always find it cheaper at your local stores or online

Verdict: It really works! I was skeptical because it looked too good to be true in the ads. It usually takes me about 30 – 45 minutes to do my whole  head, but with some practice you can probably cut that time in half. It’s important to section your hair so it makes it easier for you to curl . I have a fear of burning myself using a straighter or curling iron, but with this I can finally now curl my hair without injuring myself. It is expensive, but it’s worth the investment.

How do you curl your hair?

POPSUGAR Must Have Neiman Marcus Box Review

POPSUGAR and Neiman Marcus have teamed up again for a Must Have Box! Last year’s box was a huge success, and it sold out in less than a day. I was iffy on the box, as it does retail for $250 for a mystery box, and the only spoiler was for a chevron throw. Though the items were nice, it didn’t really interest me as much. When spoilers were released for this box, many people seem to hate it. I actually like it a lot, and I think its better than last year’s box. Many of the items in this year’s box seem to be more useful compared to what was included last year.

The box retails for $250 and you can either purchase it at Neiman Marcus or Popsugar. In my opinion, purchase it from Neiman Marcus. If you sign-up for their email list, you’ll be emailed a coupon for 10% off, so the box goes down to $225. Until Wed, Nov 12, you can use code NOV50 and save an additional $50, so the box goes down to $200. Also, you can earn additional cash back, up to 10%, which will save you even more money! Last, this box is included in their Love to Give Collection, and 10% of the proceeds goes to a local charity!

If you need holiday gifts, this box might be the way to go. You can get 8 luxurious items for $250. If you split it up, each item only retails for $31.25 which is a great bargain for luxury goods.

Here’s what’s in the box:

  • Clare Vivier Clutch ($220): This is a pretty clutch. Her clutches are made out of gorgeous leather. I have a clutch similar to this, and I love sticking it in a big bag that I can just grab and go. This clutch is perfect for the fashion maven in your life.

  • Missoni Candle ($88): I love Missoni! When Missoni did their collaboration with Target, I was obsessed. I don’t really like candles because I don’t burn them, but you can melt the wax and re-purpose the jar . This is perfect for a housewarming gift. No one can resist a candle.

  • Monica Rich Kosann Frame ($100):  The frame in the spoiler is a cream color. It’s a pretty frame. If you have a friend that’s recently engaged or you’re going to a wedding, this is a perfect gift! Or you can gift it to your parents with a recent family photo.

  • Swing Design Mia Box ($40):This glass box is pretty unique. I love that it’s a hexagonal shape instead of something more traditional. You can use it to store trinkets or jewelry. Gift it to your friend obsessed with jewelry.

  • MarieBelle Hot Chocolate ($19): A blend of chocolate to add to food or make hot chocolate with. Gift it to the foodie in your life.

  • Lancer: The Method Nourish ($125): I heard good reviews about this moisturizer. With colder days coming ahead, you’ll need an amazing moisturizer to cope with dry skin. This will be perfect to give to the beauty junkie in your life.

  • Chantecaille Supreme Cils Mascara and Brilliant Gloss ($85): I’m not really familiar with this brand, but it seems to get rave reviews. The lip gloss is a pretty pink color, and who can ever resist mascara. This will be perfect for a Bride to Be, as the colors make  a beautiful natural bridal look or any make-up junkies you may know.

Total Value: $677 for $250!

Will you get the box? I think by splitting it up, you can give out wonderful luxurious gifts for this holiday season, all under $35!

As always, Happy Shopping!
